Pods FAQ

Do I need a permit to install a Pod in my backyard?

It depends on your city and county regulations. In most cases, Pods are considered accessory structures and do not require a building permit; you only need to comply with setback regulations (distance from fences and property lines). We guide you through the process and help you ensure that everything complies with regulations.

Does a Pod count as an official dwelling?

Not usually, unless it's built on a permanent foundation and meets the International Residential Code (IRC). Most of our clients use them as a home office, studio, gym, or extra living space rather than a primary residence.

Can I use a Pod as an Airbnb or short-term rental?

Yes, many clients do. You'll just need to check with your city's regulations and, if required, register your property and obtain a short-term rental permit.

How big can a Pod be in my backyard?

This depends on local zoning and the size of your property. Typically, Pods range from 120 to 400 sq. ft. and fit comfortably in most residential lots while meeting setback requirements.

Do I need water, electricity, or plumbing connections?

This heavily depends on how you will use your modular pod. These are some examples:

  • Office/studio/gym: Only electricity is required.
  • Guest suite or Airbnb: Electricity, water, and plumbing are needed. Our Pods are designed for easy hook-up to your home's existing utilities.
How fast can a Pod be delivered?

Pods are factory-built and can usually be ready in 4 to 6 weeks, depending on your design and finishes.

How is a Pod installed in the backyard?

We offer two installation options:

  • Factory-built delivery: The Pod is built at our facility and delivered to your home, as long as there is enough space for a vehicle to access and unload it.
  • On-site construction: If access is limited or you prefer, we can build the Pod directly in your backyard.

Either way, we make the process simple and efficient so you can enjoy your new space right away.

What kind of maintenance does a Pod require?

Very little. Pods are built with durable, weather-resistant materials (steel structure, treated wood, insulation, double-pane windows). Routine cleaning and basic upkeep, similar to your home, is all that's needed.

Are Pods safe and well-insulated?

Yes. Each Pod is built with a solid wood structure, combined with thermal and sound insulation and weather-resistant finishes, making them comfortable, safe, and durable year-round in Texas.

Can I finance the purchase of a Pod?

Yes, we offer payment plans and financing options depending on the model and your needs.
